Siblings in Zaatari
This photo was taken by 22 year-old Syrian refugee photographer Bilal Al-Eid. Bilal caputed this photo of two children he cares about deeply in the Zaatari refugee camp. He says "they are two children who suffer a lot, despite their young age but they have not stopped learning. My parents always strive to educate them despite the children bullying them in school over their looks or their mental abilities. The boy always came back from school angry at what his friends say. He always mentions that he will stop studying and work with his father who works picking tomatoes and potatoes despite his young age. When I asked him why he doesn't defend himself and tell one of the teachers, he said to me: “the teacher sometimes bullies me, so what should I tell the children because the teacher does this too” tears started to fall and he said "I really want to learn but I need attention and respect to be a doctor as my sister and I dream about.""
